Sydney Markets Cherry Auction reaches $31,000 bid
An online fresh fruit delivery business paid $31,000 for the ceremonial first season tray of cherries at the Sydney Markets Cherry Auction last November.
Bobby Tesoriero from HWY Fruits made the winning bid and was subsequently crowned the Cherry King after a hotly contested auction held on the floor of the Sydney Markets.
Funds raised from the event were donated to the Save Our Sons Duchenne Foundation and the Sydney Markets Foundation.
Organisers also thanked other businesses that donated their time, including Busfood events, Little Wings, Toyota Material Handling (TMHA) and Your Local Greengrocer.
