After many years of negotiations, a new market access protocol has been signed allowing for the shipment of Australian cherries to China, with the first cherries from the Pest Free Area (PFA) State of Tasmania being sent  to Melbourne today and off to Beijing tomorrow.

Media Release - Victorian Fight against Queensland Fruit Fly continues

The Victorian Coalition Government is continuing the fight to protect Victoria’s valuable fresh fruit export markets against Queensland Fruit Fly (QFF).


Agriculture and Food Security Minister Peter Walsh announced today that a QFF control plan for the coming season had now been finalised following consultation by the Department of Primary Industries with Victoria’s horticulture industry.
